A Prayer Answered

I submitted this story for Austin Briggs’ August 55-word flash fiction contest. The prompt was “A Praying Man”.

The world stopped spinning, sending the kneeling Sinew hurtling through flaming sky. He never prayed for peace; his war-torn planet would not recognize it. He only desired understanding.

Miles above the ravished terrain, Sinew saw the ugliness of the entire world. Then he understood. He felt relief as the flames devoured him.
